Here I go again! Programming Entity Framework 2nd Edition (for EF4)

Well, it’s official. I’ve gone completely mad and just sent a signed contract back to O’Reilly for the rewrite of my book, Programming Entity Framework.

With such big changes to Entity Framework, I could not let the current version of the book fade away, even though so much of it will remain valid through the life cycle of Entity Framework.

I know that some friends of mine have emails from me that said “if I ever start talking about writing another book, either send me this email back as a reminder of why I don’t want to, or just shoot me.” Apparently women say something like that (and worse ;-)) at while they are pushing babies out of their bodies but then as soon as that precious little bundle is in their arms, they are ready to do it again.

Thanks to all of the encouragement I’ve had from readers of the current edition!

Good decision! Good luck! Thats what separates the real pioneer from the soldier of fortune!

Well... all of us that we layed our hands on EF that early, in the deapths of you mind we knew that we will have to start over sooner of later! You will rewrite your book, I will rewrite my application!

Wow. You'll need two 1000-page volumes to cover EF4 in the same detail you covered EF1 :)

You told me that I could stop going to the gym if I got another one of your books. But I don't want to build myself unevenly. Will you offer an interrim supplement to the other book to get it to weigh as much as the new book will?

@Mark - HAHA. I know it seems like an EF4 book would be 2000 pages but I have to keep it to 800. :) So you'll have even weights.

Good luck. Your current book is indispensible; I'm so deep into implementing a solution based on EF3.5 at the moment I've barely had time to glance at the new EF4 features (especially as it only runs on VS 2010) but from what I've seen you've got a big job on to produce an EF4 book as good as your 3.5 one. I'm sure you can do it though!

Yes, dear, I clearly remember you saying you wouldn't do it again, and that I certainly shouldn't consider such an insane enterprise.

heh heh, good luck.. I know where you can find a good technical reviewer ;-)

Not only looking forward to it, but I need it badly.
