Dreaming of RIA Services - Literally

I was having a hard time sleeping last night so I got up and did some work. I started reading up on RIA Services on Brad Abrams' blog and Nikhil Kothari's. I needed a refresher from the last time I dug into them just before TechEd. I'm really excited about RIA Services because they bridge a very frustrating gap when working with ADO.NET Data Services (aka Astoria).

I finally went back to sleep and dreamt that Brad and some other's from Microsoft were at my user group (www.vtdotnet.org) doing a presentation on RIA Services. (Any time you want to come to beautiful Vermont, guys.....)

If you haven't looked at the July update of RIA Services that has a ton more integration with Astoria and the newly released Silverlight 3, check the above link to Brad's blog for a series of posts as well as links to lots of resources.

I'll definitely be writing about RIA Services more as I get my head wrapped further around them.

Julie, its great to hear you're excited with RIA Services and the value it brings to the bigger picture including ADO.NET Data Services.

Yeah, the idea's nice. I wish it was at least somewhat working.. E.g. I gave up trying to tweak around it just after exception of "Ambiguous reference found" on ValidateProperty method call simply because I have "Id" property in my objects and it conflicts with System.Windows.Ria.Data.AtomEntity's Id property. Oh, well...

Waiting for something more stable.
