Oslo + Data Programmability (EF, ADO.NET, etc.) Teams Merge

I’ve been waiting for someone from Microsoft to blog about this. Finally, Doug Purdy has done the deed:

“…we made a decision to merge the Data Programmability team (EDM, EF, Astoria, XML, ADO.NET, and tools/designers) and the “Oslo” team (“Quadrant”, Repository, “M”) together.”

After watching his PDC 2008 presentation on Oslo, I got very excited because I knew that Oslo’s modeling platform was very much aligned with the importance of modeling highlighted by Entity Data Models being used not only in Entity Framework, but in many technologies at Microsoft. I even included a hint of this in the last chapter of my book.

I was thrilled when I first heard that the teams came together.

Read his blog post, On “Oslo”, on why the two teams have merged.
