Next week is a big week in a traveling .NET Geek's life - Tech Ed (the North America edition). Tech Ed is in Los Angeles this year. I know I've been to two big MS events in that gigunda conference center before - perhaps they were both PDC events.
In order to get to Tech Ed without digging into the mortgage payments, I am paying my way by presenting a few sessions. One is a standard breakout session called "Entity Framework Tips & Tricks" (Wed. at 4:30) and the other is an Interactive Theater Session called "Surprise! It's the Entity Framework Gotchas!". The interactive session is one with NO POWERPOINTS ... just code and discussion, very interactive. I plan to arrive to that session with a long list of gotchas and lots of code samples then let attendees help to drive what's in the session. That one's Thursday at 1pm.
Danny Simmons has a a blog post containing outlook calendar object of all of the EF related sessions.
Here's a screenshot of that:
In addition to the breakouts, there are two BOFS (one by Dave McCarter and the other by Jonathan Bruce at DataDirect) and a Hands on Lab using EF4. The Data Access strategies session on Tuesday is by Michel Leroux Bustamante who's ability as an architect to look at the big picture is dazzling. There will be EF4 breakout sessions from different members of the EF team as well.
Danny created an EF4 t-shirt on Zazzle though I am a little delayed in sharing that and it might be too late to order it an get it on time for the conference, but you can try! (Check out Danny's post for details and links).
This year instead of a WIT Luncheon there will be a WomenBuild event on Thursday night. It can only accommodate 100 people. I signed up to help behind the scenes and am looking forward to it. Check out Julie Yack's blog post for more details.
At some point I'll be doing a book signing which will be fun but I haven't got the details yet. I don't know if it will be at the book store or at the O'Reilly booth. I'll blog that as soon as I know.
I will be there the entire week, but missing most of Friday since that's the day I fly home. I have no idea what other trouble I will be getting into there. I'm scheduled to work at some of the booths during the week but don't know the details of that either. I just figured I'd just get myself there and then have some one push me in the right direction. :-)
I always look forward to Tech Ed. Seeing friends and making new ones, learning learning learning and of course a few fun parties! It usually feels like there are more people in the conference center than the entire population of Vermont, but of course, I exaggerate.
