Dragon boat Practice Paddle

Here’s a great picture someone took of our practice paddle (preparing for the Dragon Heart Festival in a few weeks) on Sunday. We are not pros. In fact, this is the only practice we get before the race.

I’m hoping this picture is not while we are actually paddling based on the various states of everyone’s paddles. Although I’m happy to see that my paddle is exactly in synch with the person before me. That’s the goal.

It was a beautiful afternoon to be out on Lake Champlain with the Adirondacks in the background. The dragon heads don’t go on the boats until the actual race day.

I see that there are few of you out there. Almost two dozens at once. Guess that it is almost impossible to synch everyone perfectly, but I saw some dragon boats events and I must confess that they all looked impressive. Hope that your practice will give you big boost of speed and a chance to win.

Wow, you have a drum for the practice too. I was part of a Dragon racing team in Seattle and we used to work with just shouting. We used to practice twice a week but were "crushed" by the Canadian navy team in the race.
