It's so cold that...

Normally, I have my limit when it comes to what I'll bare to go skiing.  The base temp at Mad River Glen right now is 7F and it's -6F with the wind chill.

But the powder is beyond the beyond. Remember, I'm in the northeast, so this is not the norm and a major gift. Not only was there about two feet of new snow yesterday , but it was so windy that the single chair lift was closed all day. That means only the wicked (those who were willing to skin up the mountain, this includes two of my lunatic (read extremely athletic) neighbors) tracked  up that side of the mountain yesterday. (I can bet money that our neighbor Tom is there right now skinning up the mountain before the lifts open.) Plus there was still more snow yesterday and last night. MRG is using words like "mythic" , "epic" and "SICK" to describe how amazing the skiing will be today.

So I would be a fool to pass it up. Therefore, even though I do have some extra body fat to keep me warm (see there's a benefit) I am getting prepared with 2 pairs of long underwear on my legs, a pair of mittens over my 3-layers of gloves and even a face mask.

My beautiful new fat powder skis already paid for themselves yesterday where I spent most of my time in the woods and was actually almost having fun, rather than bracing for the worst on every turn.

Hey Julie,>>"I have my limit when it comes to what I'll bare..."Whilst I am sure it's true as written, could you have meant 'bear' there?

If you bear more, you will bare less. :)

So can I pretend that I meant to use "bare" as in bare my nose and my ears, etc.?I was in fact thinking of the other "bear" when I wrote that. What would I do without you guys? ;-)
