Thanks to SAMS and Amy Sorokas for a DevDays Blogging prize of a discount coupon

Bloggers listed on DevDaysBloggers.net were associated with the city that they were speaking at or attending. During the events, SAMS offered a little contest regarding the amount of blogs:

We’ll be tracking the number of blog posts aggregated on DevDaysBloggers.net from bloggers in each DevDays city. The bloggers from the city with the most aggregated posts will receive a 50% discount on the retail list price of any SAMS Publishing book title and access to selected sample chapters.

Not that I ever need incentive to blog or anything, but Boston (one of my two events) ended up having the most blogs and I wanted to thank Amy (and SAMS) for the coupon that I received.

Microsoft’s Sara Ford on Women in Tech

Thanks to the recent flurry (let’s keep it up!!!!) of discussion on women in tech, Robert Scoble says he decided to interview Sara Ford, a tester on the VS.NET team on her thoughts. In her Channel9 interview, Sara talks about her attraction at a very young age, to a puzzle game on a TI-99, her constant draw to things I.T. as she grew up, her struggles to get access to it and also her theory of what attracts girls to computers – storyline. It’s a short interview, but says a lot. Check it out.  It is one of many of her Channel9 interviews. In her blog, Sara says 5 of the 8 have been posted. I think this one makes 6 though. Thanks Robert and Sara!

Steve Smith gets deployed

We are all used to deploying applications. But most of us aren’t, ourselves, the objects of deployment.

Steve Smith, from www.ASPAlliance.com and everywhere else around ASP.Net world, has been on Inactive Ready Reserve duty for the US Army since 2001. Steve was just been called back into active duty – for a year – as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He’s got about a month to get his ducks in a row. Here is more, straight from the horses mouth.

I love the name of his new website: www.armysteve.com. He’ll be blogging there about his experiences.

DonXML on dotNetRocks Thursday night 10pmEST LIve

Yes, Don does have a last name – it’s Demsak. Kind of late for me (here are the details..hmmm not there well you can go here for the live link), but much better then the middle of a work day. Besides his passion for XML and SVG, Don’s a really nice and fun guy, which makes for a very promising show. If you haven’t ever had a chance to meet DonXML, this will be a great way! Maybe we’ll also get to meet his wife, the SQL Diva, who just came back from SQL Mag Connections and has lots to talk about. Oh, she has a name, too. It’s Melissa.

Amy Sorokas gets sucked in to Microsoft

This does not surprise me at all! It makes perfect sense. The funny part is that Amy was in Redmond when we were there for the summit. “For some meetings”, she said. Her hubby was there, too. Must have been doing some house hunting, eh? Considering the description of her new job, it looks like I will get to interact with her at least as much as I have in the past. Amy is the first person who ever told me about INETA way back when.
