Curious about google ads

Out of curiousity, I have added Google Adsense to my site. I hope nobody is offended. For some reason, it seems only to come up with ads related to blogging. If I point to a post with Christian Weyer’s name, then I get Christian Blogging. Sheesh. I have selected the “pay per click” model and have earned $1.04 already. LOL. I guess there aren’t too many Christian bloggers visiting my website. I don’t foresee doing this for much longer. I’ll report my findings.

Welcome Ani Babaian, new (chick) Developer Evangelist

Microsoft has hired Ani Babaian, from the Denver area, to be the D.E. for the Rocky Mountain region. What this means is that the most important and personal contact– on the level of mentor, advisor and technical expert — that the general developer community will have at Microsoft will be a chick. And that’s really cool! Why do I think it is cool? Because most developers are not used to seeing women developers in these types of roles. For the most part, the public, technical face of Microsoft [read more…]

Indigo and Morts and hiding the goo behind OO like code

Oh how I hate saying I’m a Mort, but by John Cavnar-Johnson’s definition, I am I am. The reason I don’t like aligning myself with Mort is because by definition, Mort has no desire to know what’s going on under the covers. I remember when Sam Gentile showed us Indigo samples at VTdotNET, after I had just seen lots of cool contract first stuff at TechEd, I was disappointed to see it looked no different than writing a web services today in VS2003. But I guess that’s Microsoft’s point of making Indigo accessible. But in doing that, is Microsoft crazy gluing these training wheels on?

Maybe there is another place for people like John and me. Somewhere in between the rose colored glasses of the RPC facade and the Tim Ewald school of hand coding angle brackets.

I still have a LOT to learn about Indigo and am really looking forward to digging into it. I also look forward to reading what I hope to become a very interesting and educational discussion (both sides of it) continuing on John’s blog and elsewhere.

DasBlog 1.8 Releases with excellent improvements

Unfortunately, much of the effort behind this latest version of dasBlog is to deal with spammers. I mean, it’s fortunate for us users, but it’s such a pity that Scott, Omar and their elves have to spend so much of their valuable time dealing with this nonsense. As I’m getting about 200-400 referral spams a day now, I am definitely grateful.

We’re calling it gold, it is DasBlog 1.8.5223.0.

What are you doing this weekend? Why not install DasBlog 1.8? (as always back up your data and READ THE README.RTF!)

Scott lists a host of other fantastic changes to dasBlog on his website.
